Description:
|
Established in 1933, the Botantic Garden was the first public-relief project in Texas and is the state's oldest botanical garden. Occupying 114 acres, the complex includes themed gardens focusing on roses, fragrance flowers, and perennials. With more than 2,500 native and exotic species, the gardens feature both natural and formal plantings and serve as a beautiful retreat. Bamboo-encircled Japanese meditation gardens cover 7.5 acres and include koi ponds and a tea house. Plus, a conservatory with exotics and tropicals remains beautiful and temperate year-round. The Gardens Restaurant serves a menu of light fare, including sandwiches, salads, soups, and pastas. A gift shop is open daily. Located west of downtown in the cultural district. |
