LAWRENCEVILLE. At one time, this industrial neighborhood was home to steel mills and a Civil War-era arsenal for the Union Army. Now it's a place where young artists and old Pittsburghers live peacefully side-by-side. In recent years, 20-somethings have been buying up inexpensive row houses and restoring them to their original glory. The business district has embraced this transition too, and hip clothing boutiques now sit just doors down from family-owned taverns that have been serving famous fish sandwiches for decades. |
