OAKLAND. The center of the University of Pittsburgh's campus is a 42-story Gothic-styled structure known as The Cathedral of Learning. The entrance to the educational facility is a three-story room with slate floors, columns, arches, and a massive fireplace. Wrought-iron gates separate the Commons Room from the banality of elevators whisking students to classes above. People in the Commons Room murmur in low tones as if they're in a library, making it a great spot to read, people-watch, and listen to tunes. |
