A boisterous river pub crawl commences the weekend, which ends on a more sedate note as barges cruise the emerald waters during Sunday's River Parade. You might need a bit of luck to beat the crowd – this 3-day bash attracts an estimated 18,000 attendees. |

Period music and cannon demonstrations help bring history to life. A moving sunrise ceremony commemorates the Alamo's fall. |

The memory of the Battle of San Jacinto and the Alamo supply a backdrop for spirited proceedings and are remembered in the Battle of Flowers parade, in which blossom-festooned horses and cars meander through the streets.
