146 E Houston St, San Antonio  78205 • 210-222-2362
Description: RIVER WALK. Ácenar's sophisticated version of Mexican cuisine has been luring folks in for quite a few years now. Contemporary twists on the same-old, same-old are dished up in a bright, bold interior. Sip a tuna margarita (no fish involved) as you decide between a poblano pepper stuffed with turkey and pork or chipotle-buttered shrimp with roasted cream corn hash. Dessert offers the same originality, and cinnamon-infused Mexican chocolate mousse with bananas is a sure bet. Take time between bites to appreciate the unusual architecture and lovely patio.

La Fonda on Main
(Restaurants - Tex-Mex)
2415 N Main Ave, San Antonio  78212 • 210-733-0621

La Fonda, which opened during the Great Depression, has always been an enormously popular fixture in San Antonio, even following a change in management after 65 years. Presidents and war heroes have delighted in the place's roasted poblano relleno and in its Tex-Mex Gulf shrimp in garlic butter, and they've often returned for more. A beyond-adequate margarita menu, huge combination plates, and a leafy patio are just a few of the other reasons La Fonda is a continued success.
