Description:
CULTURAL DISTRICT. Chef-owner Michael Thomson has made his mark on FW's culinary landscape with this trendy restaurant and bar. Specializing in "contemporary ranch cuisine," the menu capitalizes on local ingredients and traditions. The place's signature dish, pepper-crusted, pan-seared tenderloin with ancho bourbon sauce, is an example of the fare available. The Ancho Bar offers patrons a comfortable spot in which to enjoy cordials, wines and a menu of upscale bar food, along with many of the restaurant's dishes. The bar's clean-lined, rustic decor is a frequent backdrop for post-dinner gatherings and after-work get-togethers. If the restaurant's crowded, the bar is also a good place to grab a quick bite. |

Description:
DOWNTOWN. A downhome spirit runs through this bar, which takes care of neighborhood folks and welcomes anyone who appreciates beer and sports. Even the menu, with its Big League Burgers and Grand Slamwiches, makes reference to the national pastime, and you can catch a variety of games on TVs scattered throughout the space. Domestic and imported brews keep patrons happy, and a selection of Californian wines add a note of sophistication. The menu features tasty (if not particularly health-conscious) fare, including cheese fries, burgers, and fried appetizers. You'll also find live music on weekends. |

Description:
STOCKYARDS. This 100-year-old saloon, once a hangout for 19th-century cowboys selling cattle, is still one of the city's best Wild West bars. Serving cold beer and offering C&W music seven nights a week, the saloon boasts an outdoor patio with live bands during the summer. Plus, you'll find pool tables and a dance floor. For added ambience, the ceiling is lined with hats belonging to cowboys from long ago. An added touch of nostalgia comes in the bar's annual re-enactment of Fort Worth's last gunfight, which took place just outside the saloon. It's staged annually on February 8th (for details, call 817-624-9712). The long-lived watering hole is just what you'd imagine a Texas saloon should be. A must-see! |
