Description:
DOWNTOWN. Casual and relaxed, this great little nightspot is just what you'd expect in a blues bar. Dim lighting, a bit of smokiness, and a splash of neon add to the atmosphere, and a substantial supply of bras festoons rafters and other stationary features, thanks to the sacrifice of appreciative female patrons. Anytime J&J's is open, you're certain to experience the best in blues and R&B. Artists from all over deliver good music and good vibes, and the place makes for a fantastic evening out any time of year. |

STOCKYARDS. Within this two-story, red-brick building dating from 1928, you'll find some of the area's most energetic dancing. Specializing in "Western Swing," the club offers patrons an amalgam of musical styles that's quintessentially Texas. With influences from Europe, Mexico, and America's own rural communities, the music boasts an unmistakable quality that folks can't get enough of. Don your hat, your boots, and your most form-fitting jeans and see if you can pick up some moves yourself. |

Description:
A TCU student favorite, this happening club offers a host of live bands. The place has a knack for booking talents before they hit the mainstream, so you're likely to find the hottest acts right on the cusp of the big time. A variety of musical styles is represented by performers, and the ambience is as casual or as upscale as you care to make it with your circle of friends. The party atmosphere isn't one of over-the-top wildness but good-natured camaraderie. Folks often stop by to have a few drinks (amaretto sours are the house specialty) and to take in the great music. There's also food available if you need something to temper the alcohol. |

Description:
STOCKYARDS. This 100-year-old saloon, once a hangout for 19th-century cowboys selling cattle, is still one of the city's best Wild West bars. Serving cold beer and offering C&W music seven nights a week, the saloon boasts an outdoor patio with live bands during the summer. Plus, you'll find pool tables and a dance floor. For added ambience, the ceiling is lined with hats belonging to cowboys from long ago. An added touch of nostalgia comes in the bar's annual re-enactment of Fort Worth's last gunfight, which took place just outside the saloon. It's staged annually on February 8th (for details, call 817-624-9712). The long-lived watering hole is just what you'd imagine a Texas saloon should be. A must-see! |
