        Description: The Guthrie Theater's 2008-2009 Studio Season will feature productions of Beckett's Happy Days and An Evening of Short Plays by Tony Kushner. The intimate, "black box" setup of the Dowling Studio provides the perfect setting for student actors to hone their skills, and it's perfectly conducive to the experimental nature of many of the plays put on here.

        Description: The architecturally stunning Guthrie Theatre, designed by Jean Nouvel, is a fantastic place to visit even when it's not showtime, and a guided tour of the beautiful facility is a must for any design geek visiting the Twin Cities. That said, attending a Mainstage performance at the Guthrie is a magical experience, and the 2008-2009 season promises to be one of the best yet with scheduled productions to include Tony Kushner's The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures and Shakespeare's The Two Gentlemen of Verona.

        Description: Billed as the "oldest and coldest celebration in the nation," this winter event promises ice fishing competitions, a half-marathon, hockey, curling, ice-skating, and a nighttime torch parade. However, the Midwest's largest ice-carving event is the focal point, and the outdoor gallery features an amazing array of frozen sculptures carefully crafted by regional and national artists. Events take place at various locations around the city, including downtown and in the Como Lake area. Visitors must purchase a button for a one-time fee to gain free or reduced admission to most events.

Historic Summer Walking Tours

        Description: Take an in-depth look at some of Minneapolis's most historic spots: the oldest cemetery (graves of pioneers and Civil War vets), a neighborhood of splendid architectural gems, the warehouse district, Nicollet Island, City Hall and the Courthouse, theaters, and Lynnhurst colony. Each tour is guided by an expert, lasts between one and two hours, and is offered rain or shine. Reservations are not required, but tickets will be available 15 minutes before each tour.
